The Ilhas Quirimbas are a Mozambique social heritage and ancient legacy, all somewhat connected to the coast by sand bars, coral reefs, mangroves and water rich in marine life.
The Islands of Ibo, Quisiva and Matemo highlight old Portuguese settlements with pre-colonial Swahili settlements. There is proof that the way of life today is a blend of influences from Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe over more than a thousand years.
